Arbor Day 2019

Dear Members,

Last year’s Arbor Day event at the CCE Suffolk County Farm and Education Center was a great success. The teamwork and camaraderie exhibited that day is commendable. They were very pleased with the work that was performed and grateful for our contribution. Great Job by everyone!

For our 2019 Arbor Day event, the LIAA will be at the Baiting Hollow Scout Camp on March 16th. Our focus will be maintaining the trees to ensure the safety of the numerous children that use this facility all year long. We will also be planting a tree on the property to assist with the beautification plan they have in place.

We request that all volunteers arrive by 7:00AM for a gear and tool inventory and safety inspection (as well as coffee and breakfast). We will have a short safety meeting (ISA & CTSP credits available) prior to starting work at 8:00AM. Our goal is to be finished with all tasks by 12 noon, and then we will have lunch.

In order to help make Arbor Day run as smoothly as possible, we need to know the people and equipment that our members will volunteer in advance of the event. Please take the time to complete the enclosed registration form. Please return our registration form by no later than March 2nd. You can also register online at www.longislandarborists.org. Please make sure to include the name of those attending and the equipment you will be bringing.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call David Jenkins at the number below. As always, we anticipate great press coverage for LIAA, the membership, and the Baiting Hollow Scout Camp. All volunteers will receive a commemorative shirt, continental breakfast, and lunch. So sharpen your saws, check your ropes, and make sure you’ve got all your PPE. Let’s get ready for Arbor Day 2019!
